Please help!! I'm on to my 756th Knoppmyth install (well, it feels like it!). I've at last moved the computer and hooked up to the tv, and the next problem has appeared... I'm watching tv via the s-video in on the 350, from a UK Sky TV Box. This has a scart out and I've used a scart/s-video adator. The picture displays in b/w and only records b/w unless I use the composite out from the scart adaptor and then a composite/s-video adaptor at the 350 input. This picture is colour, but unwatchable as it is very 'blocky' and appears as if its not tuned in. I've checked the PVR350 s-video input by recording from other scources, and this is fine. The Sky Box plays perfectly through the tv, and the picture records perfectly to other recorders via the s-video adaptor now feeding the 350. Why does the 350 not display the picture. I bought the 350 from eBay, could I have a card meant for another country, perhaps? Any ideas anyone? Anyone had anything similar? Thanks in advance. |

In the setup, are you sure that your card is set to use the S-Video input, as this what this sounds like? As S-Video doesn't rely on any modulation, you shouldn't run into any country localisation issues, as long as you set in General Setup for the the UK (PAL, Western Europe and VBI Teletext). A UK card would have on the label on large silver shielding box for the RF circuitry, PAL I (possibly B/G as well). Bruce S. |

Thanks. Yes, each installation I set things up for PAL-I and S-Video as the default card input. I know the card is recording via S-Video from other sources and I know the SKY box is outputting a good picture, so beats me. All other ideas welcome! |

Sorry to be stupid, but when you say "I know the card is recording via S-Video from other sources", was that with Knoppmyth? It's just that some B&W/colour problems seem to be S-Video/Composite mismatches. Again, sorry to ask the blatantly obvious question, you mention the the default is set up to be S-Video, but in mythtv-setup, in Input Connections, did you connect your Sky Video Source (the xml-tv listing) to the Composite input or the S-Video input? As I understand it, even if you set the default to be S-Video, MythTV will use the inputs associated with a Video Source, not just the default input. |

Hello again. Thanks for the response. Yes, the 350 records in colour with a good picture in Knoppmyth. Regarding the setup, If I remember rightly, I have to do a channel scan on each input I want to use (Tuner, S-Video, Composite) otherwise It won't accept an input signal, even though its not a tuner input. So you see, it accepts a signal from other sources, but not from the SKY box. I have a DC10+ card in the spares drawer, but that shows an error message during boot. (VIDEOC_T_D or something similar from memory), zoran36067 driver loads ok. In fact, I would prefer that to work as I do not need a Tuner input (and thats the only input that works!). Do you have any info re the DC10? I'll try to set the 350 up again without a scan on the S-Video input and let you know. Steve |
