Post subject:  Easiest 1080i HDTV output setup?

Ok I think i'm giving up on my Ati card(unless someone has actually got this one to work). I cannot figure out if the DVI>Component adapter works. All i want to do is be able to display to my hdtv in hd. I can't seem to find a straight answer on the threads i have searched. Do i need a new card? If so the card needs to be a AGP card. Is there a wiki/howto/post on getting Mythtv to output in (real)HD? I guess i'm just confused.

At the moment i have:
Athlon 64 3000+
DFI Lanparty UT NF3
1 GB ram
ATI 9800 video w/ dvi>component adapter
80GB HD
HD-5500

DVI will output an HD signal provided you configure Xwindows to use that resolution, 1920x1080. Component will handle a 1080i signal, but not 1080p. So it should work, but I have not tried it as I have not gotten a DVI to component converter yet.
