Post subject: | Video Capture Card as Input |
I currently have a good working system based around 2 DVICO DVB-T cards. It works great expcept for one problem - In Brisbane we have a local TV channel (bris31) that is only broadcast in analog. The TV guide i use has a listing for Bris31, so im thinking of sorting out some sort of analog capture card to allow me to watch Bris31. I have an old Pixelview PlayTV Pro card spare. Its BT8xx based (BT878 i think) and is basically a TV tuner card without a tuner. It just has a composite, and Svideo input. Will knoppmyth be able to use this card as an input device?? I have a very high end sony VCR sitting dormant under my TV, I figure if i tune it permanently into Bris31 and send its output into the capture card i might have a cheap solution?? |

I have used a Pixelview previously and it had a philips tuner on it (It is located in a big silver box on the PCI card). It would also have a coax input if it had a tuner. Either way your solution will work fine, just set it up in the MythTV Setup and then in MythTV just switch to that tuner and away you go. On a side note, it is good to see someone else from Brisbane on the forums, go the Broncos! |

theres a few brisbaneites floating around these forums ![]() This card definately doesnt have a tuner, its capture only. I used to use the abovementioned VCR for tuning. Have you ever had any luck with Bris31? I have done some more reading on this and realised my p3 1ghz system isnt oging to like having to encode all that analog video coming in, so if i want bris31 im going to have to fork out for a PVR-150 with its hardware encoding.. |

I don't have a very good aerial and whilst on some of my normal tellies, I can just get Briz31. Living on the northern outskirts of Brisbane I don't have the best signal for UHF. |
