| Post subject: | ti4200 versus fx5200? |
I currently have a Geforce 4 ti4200, but the GPU HSF is dieing. A new HSF is $15, whereas a brand new fx5200 can be had for a bit over $30. Would I be better off picking up a new fx5200 or sticking with the ti4200? |

I don't think you need to worry about either in my opinion as the card would not be that pushed so the need for a fan would be superflouse. In saying that you would have to make sure that the case is well ventilated still. |

take the fan off. clean all the dust off it with an old toothbrush. remove the seal that covers the bearing, and drop some light oil in there. put it all back together and you will probably find you get another couple of years out of it. I did this to my TI4200 about 18 months ago and its still quiet. |
