Hey :)

I bought an Nvidia 6200 PCI GFX-card, because I needed the TV-OUT function. But the TV-image is not centred. I get a black border at the top of the Tv-screen and a little one at the right. Are there anyway to adjust the TV-out position?

Best regards

try running the Nvidia settings program, it has tons of options. Not sure if image cnetering is in there, but i know that overscan is. Worth a look.

Code:
nvidia-settings

This comes up a lot, I am using a nvidia tv out as well and as far as I can tell you can not tweak the position of the image (say with xvidtune) as TV out doesn't use modelines (my understanding, could be wrong). Xvidtune gives errors for any setting while using TV out (even the current one that works).

So the only adjustments I could make were adjusting overscan. With XFConfig-4 you can set the overscan higher from the default 0.8 and/or you can use nvidia-settings as suggested by khrusher. If you go the latter route you will need to add 'nvidia-settings --load_config_only' in your startup file /home/myth/.fluxbox/apps (?) so it gets applied on each X start. I find this a little unsatisfactory as each time I play a DVD I seem to lose my nvidia-settings.

The problem with setting the overscan high is that Myth menus may/will run off the screen. In setup->appearances->general you can specify a different GUI and TV size -- set the width/height/offsets so that myth menus look ok to you. I ended up with something like 672x460+17+8. (These don't really look right, but you get the idea).

It takes quite a bit of fiddling so that the Knoppmyth background does not show through when watching TV, the picture fills the screen, and have the menus look good.

[You can also adjust the video playback overscan and offsets, I did this because my overscan problem is not symmetric, I need less overscan horizontally so use negative horizontal overscan on playback so I claim back some missing picture lost to the symmetric overscan adjustment from nvidia-settings]

Another thing that made a big difference is to set the font rendering to 100 DPI in XFConfig-4 'Option "DPI" "100x100"'. I had a hard time reading anything with the default calculated 75DPI. This should be added to the Knoppmyth TV-out sample XFConfig IMO.

Search around here and the wikis, there are plenty of posts on this issue (I can't find them at the moment however).

If it is a blue border on the top and also to my left hand side of the screen.
http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlueBorders
Code:
/home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps
add           [startup] {xvattr -a XV_COLORKEY -v 0}                before “knoppMyth-runâ€?  statment

I had to do this for TV out in R5E50 using SVHS out of a Nvidia FX5200 128 meg video card
