Hi, I'm learning linux as I have fun with my mythbox. My setup is simple as I only want to be able to play any kind of media file. I have no tuner card and therefore no remote. I did try to set up an old dvd player remote through the audio channel, but I'm experiencing noise even with everything disconnected or muted. (I may resume work on that small project later, when I'm not so busy). So..., I have an old usb 12 button gamepad that works great controlling the Mythtv menus. I mapped my extra gamepad buttons to Xine keypresses, but nothing happens in Xine. I googled and I searched the forum and read some FAQs and it seems that what I'm trying to do can't be done or is beyond my level of experience. Am I wrong? Please help. My setup: Asus K8N-E motherboard w/ 512mb ram and AMD sempron 2800 NVidia 5200 DVD-rom drive Audio is provided thru SPDIF or audio jack Sony LCD RPTV R5D1 Knoppmyth |

I don't have the answer to your game pad issue, but... Quote: I have no tuner card and therefore no remote.
You dont need a tuner card to have a remote. Just about any IR remote can be configured to work with a serial port receiver. You can buy or make a receiver for about $10. |
