Update: I just installed R5E50 with the rumblepad reciever plugged into the USB port. Now without doing any setup I can navigate through all the menus with the remote or the gamepad but when I play a game the gamepad still does not work so I ran: jstest /dev/js0 up to js8 but its not detected at all. How can the gamepad be used to navigate the menues but not be detected with jstest? ________ Free Gift Card |

R5E50 uses udev. There is a possibility the node is different (not /dev/jsX). Code: dmesg | grep joystick May show what the node is...

That command didn't do anything. Damn. I read the posts for this controller before I bought one because most people have had it work right out of the box. I even re-installed with the reciever unplugged. When it was done I plugged it in, rebooted, could once again control the menu navigation but nothing when a game is running. ________ Free Gift Cards |

Try the following commands to see where it's recognized on the USB bus Code: dmesg | grep -i usb
lsusb -v This should help you identifty what udev is calling the device. |

I had exactly the same problem with a logitech rumblepad. A combination of this thread and nosing around my system resolved it for me. There's a /dev/input/js0 on my system, so adding the following in /etc/xmame/xmamerc got it working... Code: ### Input Related ###
joytype 1 analogstick 0 usbpspad 1 mouse 1 joydevname /dev/input/js0 The buttons are easy to customize by hitting [TAB] while in XMAME. Hope this works for others. |
