Post subject: | PCHDTV 5500 troubles with R5E50 |
Greetings folks! First of all, thank you for the excellent knoppmyth distro - it represents a lot of hard work! I am doing my first mythtv / knoppmyth install on ASUS M2NPV-VM NVidia GeForce 6150 integrated sound 1GB Crucial RAM 2x PCHDTV 5500 Two days ago I had this system up and running with a WinTV150 under R5D1 (with upgraded lirc for the remote and upgraded alsa for the sound) Nothing worth saving, so I did a clean install with R5E50 b/c I read it includes the new alsa & new kernel with the HD5500 drivers. Also was hoping that it might include new lirc (not sure of that one yet). Enough background, here's the problem: The cards don't seem to be seeing any digital channels at all. I'm connected to the ex-Susquehanna/newly-Comcast cable network out of Brunswick, Maine - and have a digital cable set top box which has been working including several HDTV channels. So there should be some dtv channels there - presumably not EVERYTHING is encrypted...(?) I've run the dtvscan and get nothing either VSB or QAM. If I run "dtvscan /dev/video0" I get a very few channels (4,8,9,10,11,12,13) with messages of "look for sync / Can't find sync" for each of them. During dtvscan run I get lots of these in my dmesg: " Code: cx88[0]/2: cx8802_timeout In my dmesg, I see the following suspicious chunk about recognizing the cards: Code: ...

When I tried to apt-get them it told me they were already installed (Custom install, no version info available). Tried removing and re-getting them to no avail... Does any one of you gurus out there have some tips for me to get these cards fired up? |

Whoops - sorry, wrong forum. Feel free to move this thread if appropriate! Also, I should mention - the subject may imply that the problems are R5e50 related - I haven't had the HD5500 cards working at all - so it could be a problem with the cards and/or my cable network... Thanks in advance for any thoughts! |
