I can't seem to get any audio out of my Intel DG965WH motherboard with RE50. Running alsaconfig it sees the Intel HD audio, but hangs when it goes to set the volume level. Also there is no mixer in /dev

Any thoughts? A google search didn't really turn up anything on this.

Did you boot with the "intelfix" option documented in the upgrade hints? Have you got a dvb card (this includes most of the ATSC card) that needs the cx88_alsa driver blacklisted?

Yes, I did do the inetlfix option. alsa sees the sound card too. I can't get any sound at all from CD's or otherwise out the SPDIF out. I am using the PCHDTV5500, and I haven't heard of that fix before, how do I blacklist a driver?

See my upgrade hints posting. Even if you did a scratch install the known issues and most of the known changes will still affect you. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13108

BTW - To get to the point where you can do that, you may need to do the install with the card removed.

Ok, I tried the black listing. I noticed that I dont have an /etc/asound.conf file. I can't get the spdif to light up under any application, and any application thst uses sound hangs.

Did you run alsaconf? There's a recent thread where Cecil talks about having to do that.
