hello all,
**I AM UNABLE TO WATCH TV** I select tv and it goes back to the main page.

I am in the midst of setting up a Knoppmyth system.

I am using a Avermedia M150-D on a under-equipped system.

COMPUTER SPECS:

350mhz processor
i believe 512 mb ram
its a gateway motherboard, so i dont have any specifics
video card is ATI

TUNER CARD:

Avermedia M150-D
card is labeled with two chips:
Conexant Broadcast Decorder Cx23880-19
Conexant MPEG II A/V Encoder CX23416-12

i want to set this machine up as a trial to make sure this config will work. then i will buy a more fitting machine

yes, and thank you for your reply. i have been trying the information supplied in both links.

I have figured out this is a V4L card.

I pulled up some logs and would like someone to take a look at them. I believe its saying my card is not being recognized. Although it says the drivers are loaded on the second line.

Also I am doing at this step: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=CompileIvtv

And it says to look for a file similar to kernel-source-2.6.13.2-chw-3, all I see is linux-headers-2.6.18-chw-13. Are these similar files or no?

ok haha this is crazy... and think im posting way to much stuff i find... but i have made some progress, i have download the ivtv drivers although when i run make this is what i get:

Dang, batting 1000 today. When I first read your post I thought it was complaining about the source directory, not the headers directory. There has been some "fun" going on with the nVidia drivers over here http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13443. I am using R5D1 so I don't have any hands-on experience getting the source/headers in sync in R5E50, sorry.

It looks like it may be able to work if you force the tuner type to 12 (ASUS PVR 416)

I believe you force the tuner type this way:

thank you novellahub, I made the changes.. only adding bttv card=12 but it still does not work.

1. In myth-setup Option 2 "Capture Card" add "Standard VL4 Capture Card" with default setting. (Myth-setup can be accessed during last stage of initial install or after initial install by exiting Myth frontend, Xterm>xshell> "mythtv-setup"

2. In myth-setup Option 3 "Video Sources" add appropriate data source (I used directdata/zap2it) and complete login information.

3. In myth-setup Option 4 "Input Connections">VL4 :/dev/Video0 (Television) modify to use appropriate "video source" created in previous step.

4. Switch to console mode and login ALT + CTRL + F1

5. Edit modules file

$ pico /etc/modules

6. Find bttv line and edit with correct bttv parameters, lines should read

bttv card=12

    * Note: For some cards (newer), you may need to use tuner=43 instead. See http://www.linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index.php/Leadtek_WinFast_2000

7. Ctrl X and save to exit pico and save file.

8. Restart Knoppmyth box.
