Post subject:  LCD-TV: Philips 5331, Connection DVI to HDMI

Hello

I am thinking of buying a philips LCD (5331 ==> http://tinyurl.com/25cw4h).

Since I have not really occupied myself with getting a LCD until now, I have some "stupid" questions about this whole HDMl-thing:

* I have a DVI-graphic card. Is it possible to use the LCD as monitor with DVI/HDMI converter cable?
* As for the TV-out, the whole connection will be slightly different than on my current CRT-TV. Where do I have change the settings?
* What else do I have to keep in mind?

Thanks in advance

I have a HDMI TV (Hyundai E320D), and I haven't yet worked through getting the right modeline/output to drive it properly, but I do know one thing:

Using VGA and DVI etc., the video card probes the monitor and asks for its resolution modes available. When I use a DVI->HDMI cable, the TV does not send back any mode information. I don't know whether this is a a limitation in general, or just my setup.

Sorry I don't have more knowledge. I'll be working through trying to set up a modeline manually etc. in the next few weeks...

I think, if you can find a TV with DVI input, that's the best.
