hi folks,
I'm testing R5E50, with the thought that it will replace my R5D1 backend. My test rig for R5E50 is an Intel STL2 mobo, dual 1GHz CPU, 1Gb RAM, and a 400Gb SATA HD on a SATA PCI controller.

Since I can play with this hardware without fear of wrecking my production backend, I've been trying to figure out why the new kernel isn't picking up the thermal zone sensor data from the CPUs and mobo.

R5D1 picks up this information, and gkrellm lists it as TZE0, TZE1 and THRM (or something like that).

I see that the ACPI messages in dmesg don't include the thermal zone statements in R5E50 like R5D1 does.

So is it something in the kernel that is not activated (module?).

I've searched this board, and googled the net, with no hits that make sense yet.

Anybody?

Have you run sensors-detect yet (from the lm_sensors package)?

The k8temp kernel module is missing for my AMD CPU, but Intel might work.

yes, that was the first thing that I tried. I just did a fresh install of R5D1 and gkrellm picks up my CPU and mobo temp sensors without running "sensors-detect".
