Post subject:  Koala Mini HDTV FE?

I've been looking for a mini FE solution for HD. System76sells AOpen units with Ubuntu that look nice. Has anyone tried to run KM on one of these? Any HDTV success?

I really don't think this will be a practicle solution to the HD mini FE problem as the price to run HD would likely put the Koala out of reach for most.

It seems to be about a grand for enough horsepower to run HD, and then there isn't any digital audio, and you start out with a HD that's still way too small. Dragon 2.0 is a much better deal, IMO.

Yeah that price is about what I was looking at too. Thus I don't see it as a practicle solution.

However I'm only thinking of FE, so the HDD should be ok. As for the audio, you are correct that it's not ideal, but for a secondary (ie bedroom, kitchen) unit it would be ok.

As for the Dragon, I haven't looked at the 2.0 but the earlier releases have all been FE/BE units. Great to start, but larger than what I'm looking for as a small FE HDTV solution.
