I have a cheap KWorld VStream video capture card I wanted to try out in my mythtv backend box. I already have a PVR-150 working and wanted to see about getting the KWorld and the PVR-150 working at the same time.

The problem I am facing right now is that it is being detected as UNKNOWN/GENERIC cx8800. I was wondering how to go about forcing it to be one of the KWorld types that I see in the dmesg output. What file do I edit? I read some posts about editting the /etc/modprobe.conf file, but I do not have this file.

Thanks any help.

Edit: oh yeah, I am running R5E50.

Another Edit: This card does not have a tuner. I am trying to use it for S-Video capture, if this info helps any.

Well, after a whole bunch of searching, I finally found a solution.

I edited /etc/modprobe.d/cx88xx

and added the line

options cx88xx card=33

Then I did this:

-modprobe -r cx8800
-modprobe cx8800

and it came up working.

Card 33 closely resembles my card on the manufacturers website, so that is the first one I tried and it worked.
