Post subject: | HD5500 no analog sound - is it blacklist |
Setup here: http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14702 When I first installed the HD5500 it killed the sound on my PVR500. I found the "blacklist" fix and it worked great. Then I setup my HD5500 and found I wasnt getting any sound on the SD (analog) side of my HD5500. Since the HD5500 uses the cx88_alsa driver for analog sound. I was thinking the blacklist is what has casued this problem. After searching the pcHDTV site (#$%@* spam) I found this post http://www.pchdtv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1466&start=15. The 4th post down talks about a possible fix. I havent tried it yet mostly because Im not sure how to, also because Im thinking I need to remove the blacklist and Im not sure how to do that as well. Could someone with more Linux/Myth experience take a look at this??? Thanx, -Staudie |

I have a fix, though I gotta say I am NOT thrilled with my pchdtv 5500. ![]() The sound issue is just one of MANY things that have annoyed me... Anyway: in /etc/modutils/alsa-base, at the end of the file you will see a comment- "# Prevent abnormal drivers from grabbing index 0" with a few entires. On a new line below those entries, add options cx88-alsa index=-2 Comment out the blacklist entry you made. And to make things easier, reboot. System should have sound again, and sound should work for tv. I wish all my other problems with that card were as easy to fix.... That one only took me a few days to find a "stable" solution. ![]() |
