Hi, I'm a nubie to lunix (some minor work in the past). I have been a Win MCE 2005 user for years now. I really wanted to see what MythTV offers over what I have used in the past and also would like to access QAM HD channels though one guide(something I can't do with MCE). My system: Intel D845EBG2 board w/ 2.8ghz P4 and 1gb memory Geforce 6300 (ordered a 7600gs 256mb comming soon) 256mb AGP 20gb + 120gb drives (only using a 20gb for testing with this for now) 150MCE, 250MCE and a Aver a180 HD card. A sound card with digital out (I forget the model) After playing and reinstalling 2 times, I got mostly everything working, Sound, video, guide, etc. 1. My Aver A180 is detected as a V-stream Studio TV Terminator (SAA7134), How do I fix this ? I can't scan any QAM channels at all with this (I do know that I get QAM channels though this card, as I have been watching them in Windows for abou 2 weeks now). 2. How do I adjust things like video resultion, sound card adjustments, and other stuff ? Can I just redetect the a180 or what can I do here ? Please understand I am new at linux and might need a little step by step till I get the hang of it. Can anyone help ? Thank you !!! |

Searching for "avermedia" and "a180" with the "search for all terms" button checked should find the information you're looking for. I seem to remember a post under Tier 2 Hardware Recommendations, which generally means that someone not only has it working but has has described what they had to do to get it working.... |

Thanks, I also upgraded to a PNY 7600gs 512mb agp card, figured I would reinstall because I didn't have it all fully setup yet. Now on install, the screen is just blue, no color (delt with this problem with my old card when I tryed Mythdora). Oh, well, As I don't know Linux very well, it's not that easy for me to configure stuff. I'll stick with MCE 2005 and try the next version when it comes out. THanks for your help. |
