Post subject: | PcHDTV HD-5500 - does it come with a low profile bracket? |
Hi, I've emailed the company but haven't gotten any replies yet, so I was wondering if anyone with an HD-5500 could tell me whether or not it comes with a low profile bracket? Also, am I correct that there are no dual tuner HD QAM PCI or PCIe cards out there that work with MythTV? (and ideally are low profile?) And therefore my best solution would be to buy two HD-5500 cards? |

No, and IIRC, it's a full-height card. Try the HDHomeRun, which is an external box, runs on the network and sends the HD streams back to the PC via ethernet. Two tuners are in the box. http://www.9thtee.com/hdhomerun.htm |

Last thing I want is issues with my wireless to affect my TV recordings! Even a configuration change on my wireless router could do that. And no, I'm not going to rewire my apartment, and I don't think it's worth setting up a DHCP server on the wired ethernet port of my Myth box just to run an external tuner box. |

Sorry about that, I must have confused it with another card. Next time, don't ask for advice when you already know the answer and/or would rather look it up yourself. |

Next time, don't ask for advice when you already know the answer and/or would rather look it up yourself. I don't know the answer to my question. I asked if the card came with the bracket. I don't know about you, but I can't even count the number of times I have ordered low profile cards only to discover they didn't come with a low profile bracket. Sometimes the low profile brackets are available as a special order item, sometimes as an entire kit, and sometimes not at all. The very word "bracket" is not only in my first post, but it is the title of this thread. Other than putting the word BRACKET in all capitols, I'm not sure how else I could have made it any clearer. |

I have finally received a reply from pcHDTV.com regarding my bracket question, and in the hopes that I will be able to help someone else out who might be wondering the same thing now or in the future, here is the response: Quote: Hello,
Currently we do not have a low-profile bracket for the card as it was manufactured incorrectly. We intend to have one in the future but have been slow in getting it produced. Thanks, Jack Kelliher pcHDTV, Inc. |
