Hello

I was experimenting around with my diskless frontend today because I really have the itch to start using Jumbo Frames. I realized that I would be forced to use an ISA sound card. So I Googled around a bit a found out that this command makes the card work. The card it ISA Compaq Ess1866F chip on the card.

Code:
modprobe snd-es18xx


So at least it works ..)

Now to get it to boot and see the card is the real question. I Googled some more and the lowrider site suggests to run

I tried running

but that didn't seem to work

Any help / advice would be great

Alsaconf


and it detects 3 instances of the card and shows a forth listing for Non PNP ISA. When I click on the second instance is the list it installs fine just like when I ran modeprobe snd-es18xx. However, when I reboot it shows no sound card again so same issue. Since trying that I went to the ALSA site and found that they have quite a few pages for different cards to get them configured. Unfortunately, the page doesn't really address this specific issue when the card works but you can't reboot your system.

I think the next thing to do is recompile ALSA and see if that works but I have to put the drive back into my machine to do the install since the machine is diskless.
