Post subject:  Phillips SAA7114H Video In

Greetings,

I have a triple boot box up and running with the R5E50 release, WinXP, and Kanotix with Grub as bootloader instead of LiLo. Hardware consists of a P4 2.66 ghz HT CPU, 1 gig dual-channel PC3200 DDR, Air2PC (Technisat) HD-5000 ATSC HD tuner card, VIA - IEEE1394 Firewire capture card, all on an Asus P4SD-478 Mobo. Remote controled via the Streamzap USB-LIRC. WinXP resides on an 80 gig SATA (sda) and KnoppMyth and Kanotix on a 160 gig SATA (sdb) All that works fine..

Also in the box, I have an Asus v9250 128m graphics card with video and s-video input. It's really the NvidiaFX5200 chipset (using 'nvida' dirver) with a Phillips SAA7114H NTSC/PAL decoder chip. The card had a DIN connector and I have an external 'black box' that has 4 connectors on it. Video In/Out and S-Video In/Out. Graphics output is fine but no 'Video Devices' are listed on captutre card setup page with the most obvious 'Card Type: Analog 4L capture card' choice set.

I have read that rivatv did work at one time with this chip but has problems compiling with newer kernels. Is there another driver/module that would allow me to use this video input chip under linux?

Thanks :D

Anyone?? Anyone?? Beuller??

According to this: http://rivatv.sourceforge.net/status.html the chipset is supported. I tried to setup the rivatv 0.8.6 drivers from CVS ( http://rivatv.sourceforge.net/ but could not get past the ./configure step without multiple errors.
