Post subject:  How to tune the CAPTURE CARD :) and sound card :)

Hi buddies,
Can any good/happy sould tell me how to tune my pvr-150 to like channel 3 or something. What code? where to edit what file?
:D I have connected the tuner to the Scientific Atlanta 3200 settop box.

Also a silly Question: I hear no sound .. for now I have connected my speaker to the sound card but they are very dead. What do I have to do to configure them. Will I have to install some kind of driver? Any how to I could look at?

I would extermenly appriciate any kind of help :)

It's very tough to diagnose anything without details, such as which sound card you are using.

First guess: It's probably muted. Try running alsamixer from an Xterm and unmuting Master and/or PCM (hitting M toggles mute) and raising the volume levels.

A search on these forums for alsamixer will give you many more troubleshooting ideas...

cando - see the BlackScreenWatchingTV troubleshooting page. The configuration walk through there covers cable boxes and provides the keywords you need to search further.

mojoJOJO - If you connected to the cable/sat box with composite (yellow RCA jack) or S-Video for your video signal you also need to make seperate audio connections (red & white RCA jacks to 1/8" stereo headphone jack) to the PVR card. As slowtolearn mentions you may also have it muted or you may have the ivtv/v4l2 capture volume set too low.
