Post subject:  psu failing

I recently replaced my 400w psu that was crashing my system, with a Cooler Master eXtreme Power 600w which can be seen here: http://www.compusa.com/products/product ... ly_Unit#ts Now I'm having the problem of the system not getting past the post screen of the memory test. my theory is that the psu is not compatible with AMD platform systems. I'm taking the psu back to the store tomorrow anyways because I'm looking to buy the Ultra ULT31851 that states in the details the it supports AMD and Intel platforms.

Machine Specs:

Case: OrigenAE S21T-B
Power Supply: ULTRA ULT31851
CPU: AMD Athlon 64fx 53
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS9700 NT
MotherBoard: MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
Memory: Corsair TWINX2048 3200PT
Video Card: BFG Geforce 7800GS OC
HDD RAID: Hitachi Ultrastar A7K1000 1TB
BD-DVD±R/RW: pending on slot loading Blu-Ray burner
SDTV Tuner: Hauppauge A/V Cable Set
SDTV Tuner: Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-500MCE
HDTV Tuner: pending on 1080p capture card
OS: Ubuntu 64-bit, Knoppmyth R5F1

You could try the following:

- Clear the CMOS. Re set up the values in the BIOS
- Remove your memory and re-seat them back in place
- Boot up with the bare mininum to see the machine will post (Video, RAM), and then trouble shoot from there.
- Re-seat all your PCI cards

You can sometimes be surpised on what gets loose after working on a PC. :)

And my favorite, vacuum (just be careful you don't suck any components off!) or blow off the board or turn it upside down and tap it firmly. Amazing how much havoc a little shaving of aluminum can cause... ;-)
