| Post subject: | Advice on cheap HD frontend |
I have been looking for a cheap HD frontend solution for a while now. Currently, here is what I'm looking at: ASUS Pundit P1-AH2, AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane, 2 x Kingston 512MB, ASUS EIDE DVD-ROM This config runs about $320 delivered from NewEgg. The current plan is to net boot from my backend (which will be a Dragon 2.0). If netboot is problematic, then I could throw in a cheap HD too, but I would rather not. Does anyone have experience with this configuration? How is the support under KnoppMyth? Your advice/input would be appreciated. 1. Can the P1-AH2 netboot? 2. Does the optical audio output work on the P1-AH2? I know there are people out there using Ubuntu successfully on it. 3. Any tricks to getting the on-board nVidia video working correctly? 4. Processor recommendation? I just chose something cheap and dual core. Thanks! -Nathan |
