hey,
well, I have been using KnoppMyth for more then a year. It is absolutely amazing! It's awesome, and so to improve my Myth box, I was thinking about adding a second capture card... So, I figured I would go here first to get some advice. So first of all I have an ATI TV Wonder VE video capture card. Yeah, it's a software decoder... I have an underclocked processor which is running at 1500 MHz. If you think it's stupid of me to underclock.. I had to, it runs just as well, but it's profoundly more stable. Anyway, so that runs fine, I have no problems getting great video quality with minimal processor use. Well, this is what I'm wondering...

do you think that I could add a second ATI TV Wonder VE video capture card?

or should I go for a hardware capture card?

well, that's pretty much what my question boils down too. Oh, and I'm also planning on upgrading to .15 pretty soon, so I could wait to put the other card in when I upgrade... If that would mean that the upgrade and installation would go smoother... well, tell me what you think, and feel free to ask if you have any questions. Thanks in advance.

I have almost the same set up. A search of the forums would have found my post on the subject:

 That is interesting considering the first public release was last August. Thanks.

well, I finally bought a second capture card: ATI TV Wonder VE

and all hell has broken loose...
well, it's not THAT bad but first of all the video looks all washed out just like if the bttv module:

alias char-major-81 bttv
options bttv card=64 autoload=0 radio=0
post-install bttv insmod tuner type=2

was not configured correctly, so I decided to take the advice of Dinki and I changed the '/etc/mythtv/modules/bttv' to this:

alias char-major-81 bttv
options bttv card=64,64 autoload=0 radio=0
post-install bttv insmod tuner type=2,2

I think that's pretty much what he said should be changed... I tried all sorts of stuff like chaning the tuner option to tuner=2,2 and messed with all of that for a while, I made sure to run 'update-modules' and restarting each time... anyway, so I don't know what it's doing but frankly I don't understand why it's not working... I don't know if I need to change any other files or anything like that... oh, so then I decided to try to mess with the sound also... (btw, I know it was a bad idea, I probably should have just waited till I had finished fixing the video) anway, so I was trying to use the pci sound card which I had already been using and also the onboard sound card which I Had disabled before in the bios. Anyway, so I reenabled it but I realized that I can only turn it to automatic or diabled... which means that for some reason if it detects another sound card it automatically disables the onboard sound card....... and I don't know if there's any way around this... ok, well, tell me what you think, thanks in advance.
