Post subject:  Closed Caption from DVD

Using PVR-350 with Knoppmyth version R5E50. I can record shows off
air and playback with captions.

What I need to do is play CC from a
DVD that was made on a Pioneer PRV-LX1 DVD recorder.

It captures line21
closed caption as though it was part of the video, but the PVR350
will not play this line out to video. It apparently does a "sliced vbi"
by default, where the vertical interval data is captured to and then
played back from a separate stream.

I need to make the PRV350 simply play back line 21 as though it
was part of the video rather than blank this line and look for data
in a separate stream to play back captions. Normally the slice
thing would be a good idea, because it gives you a nice clean
regenerated line21 even from noisy video, but we need line21
played back as if it was just another line of video.

Actually, to be more specific, it's called "sliced-vbi". What I want
to do, I think, is turn off sliced vbi and just see whatever the
mpeg2 stream has on line 21 for video. I think it's captured
as if it was just another part of the picture and I need it to play
back. I've played around quite a bit with v4l2-ctl and ivtvctl to
no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks
