Post subject: | tvaudio on STB card full of distortion |
my bttv0 card is a STB PCI FM. detected ok by KnoppMyth which find 3 chips (TDA7432, TEA6420 and TDA9850) not present on my ATI card. after detecting those chips, it says "tv audio decoder + audio/video mux driver" the problem is the sound is full of distorsion when i watch live tv or any recordings made. i read all the posts on sound problems i could find, looked at the Mythtv docs on troubleshooting sound problems, but it is still the same. i tried changing the bitrate to 44000 or 48000 instead of 32000, same thing. i tried to patch the audio cable from the internal 4 pins header on the card to the video input of my soundcard. i also tried to connect it to the cd in, i tried to move the card to another PCI slot, i rerouted the audio cable away from the CPU, no change. i am making sure that, in alsamixer, the correct input is selected as capture, muted, no change. sound is ok for mp3 and mame games, in fact it is ok if i unmute the input, but then it is not synchonized with the video. my second card, ATI TV Wonder VE is not connected to the soundcard at all for the moment. at setup, when i define capture cards, i select /dev/dsp for both cards could this be the problem? also, what is this tvaudio thing? does it need some config i am not aware of? from what i read, this card is not able to do btaudio, but still it is a DBX stereo card and i would like it to work. thanks |
