I have 2 tv tuner cards in my system, a bttv based card (registers first as /dev/video0) and a pvr250 I recently aquired. I am running gentoo with a 2.6 kernel. I got the ivtv (newest patch) compiled, and modprobed in. The issue is that when I try to capture or watch tv, I get a 'ghost' image, like I'm trying to watch the porn channel (and I don't pay...). I get a little bit of an image, but its certainly not watchable, its black and white and all over the place.

I'm pretty sure the error is right here: (from dmesg)
saa7115[0]: decoder set norm NTSC
saa7115[0] set audio: 0x01
tuner: tuner type not set
saa7115[0]: decoder set picture bright=128 contrast=63 saturation=64 hue=0

How do I set the tuner type? I seem to have everything else working, just not this.

have you tried

options ivtv tuner=2

that is for ntsc
