Post subject: | Using ndiswrapper for wireless support |
Hi, I am trying to install my US-Robotics PCI card, but haven't had much success. I tried to use the debian package mentioned on the ndiswrapper page (dpkg -i ndis*.deb), but 'modprobe ndiswrapper' complains "can't load module ndiswrapper" Second, i tried to download and install sources (0. ![]() but 'make install' gives me a lot of header file errors I don't know how to fix. Can anyone give me some pointers? TIA, Michael |

After unpacking the kernel sources, the make install option from the sources seem to work. Only after completing the install, modprobe procedure, I still don't have a wlan0 (iwconfig only shows "lo no wireless support). I think I am going to check the procedure described below: http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=14972 Comments, ideas welcome. TIA, Michael |

did you create an alias wlan0 line? otherwise the module will not know it is supposed to be wlan0. -edit- ok I just read your link, and the first thing he tells you to do is wrong for knoppmyth. modprobe.conf is for 2.6 kernels. for knoppmyth you should create a file in /etc/modutils and add those two lines into it then run update-modules. You may want to check that it worked by looking in /etc/modules.conf and making sure the lines are in there. |
