Post subject:  Automating rrd tweaks for ASUS P5B

I have an ASUS P5B motherboard whose sensors are not recognised by mbmon. As a result, I need to use sensors-detect and sensors in order to get the info required by rrd.

sensors-detect tells me that I need the module w83627efh. After I modprobe that module, I can use sensors to get the MB temperature and fan speeds.

I would like to develop some patches so that knoppmyth automatically detects that I require this module and does the required changes to rrd to use sensors instead of mbmon.

What I dont know how to do is fingerprint my system to detect that it needs that module. sensors-detect does it somehow, but it is an interactive program that is not suitable for use in an automated script. Does anyone know how I would go about fingerprinting my system?

Could you use a tool like dmidecode to detect the motherboard?
