Post subject:  Problems after upgrading DVB card (Leadtek Winfast 2000H)

Running Knoppmyth.

For years I had two Twinhan Tuners - different models yet same chipset. Everything worked no problem.

Tuner 2 (My oldest one from years ago) started displaying artifacts on recordings, it would sometimes not start the recording at all (File not found after so-called recording, and I've even had it fall off the face of the planet (Mythweb showed only 1 encoder).

So thinking the card was going, I decided to put a new one in. Alas, the new Twinhan cards use another chipset which from what I've read are not entirely supported. So after heaps of reading I settled on a Leadtek Winfast DTV2000H. Apparenlt pretty simple to get going.

It's a J revision card, so I added the card=51 option to the modules.

After installing the card, I was happy to find the required modules seemed to be loading automatically.

I deleted all input sources, cards etc and set about re-configuring.

When adding the DVB cards, DVB0 showed up nicely as my usual DVB-T, and adding the second card (the Leadtek) showed another name including the new chipset as DVB1 - joy I thought.

I re-scanned all channels using the Twinhan, and just to see how things were going, also tried it on the Leadtek. The Twinhan did the usual slow scan, the Leadtek did a real fast scan, but the channels they both scanned seemed to correspond. Still joy.

I added my sources and set about testing.

Viewing Live TV is now broken. All I get is a blue screen, to the point where I have to Ctrl-Alt_Backspace out and re-start the front end.

There now appear to be some XVmC errors when I try to play back files. Weird, because the video card is the same as it's always been. Changing the playback to standard (No XVmC) makes no difference.

NOW

Recording DVB0 still works
Recording DVB1 (New Leadtek) gives me a file not found.

Any ideas?

Post subject:  Oops - more information

I lied about the Leadtek Channels scan.

I just re-did the scan and got nothing.

As I'm doing the scan (which is FAR too fast in my opinion), the signal strength nearly always shows 100% all the way through, but picks up no channels.

This isn't right.

I've deleted both cards and added only the Twinhan for now to keep things sane, but I still can't watch live TV.

Is this Leadtek perhaps causing some conflicts?

Any suggestions?

I just put the old card back in (the old Twinhan) and straight away the box boots much faster, and my live TV works again and XVmC works again just like it always did.

I still get bad artifacts so I still think I need to replace that card, but I'm very dubious about the Leadtek card now.

I'm seriously thinking I have some sort of conflict with the Leadtek card that causes a lot of problems with everything in the box.

Or could it be my kernel and modules are now too old?

Kernel version 2.6.18-chw-13.

Maybe the PCI slot has gone bad?

Any ideas please anyone?
