Hi,

Bundled with the European version of the PVR-350 is a SCART cable with a small mini-jack comin out from the connector for the PVR-350 A/V out.

I have tried connecting this to line in on my sound card (ac97 on an EPIA 500Mhz), but no sound is heard. Sound is fed to the TV through the SCART cable - no problem there.

Anyone knows what that mini-jack is there for?

/Jaybe

Have you tried connecting it to your speaker socket (green)?

My manual says (in german):
Quote:
Verbinden Sie den 3.5mm Klinkenstecker am SCART-Kabel mit dem Audio-Eingang der WinTV-PVR-350 Karte

which, once properly automatically translated gives:
Quote:
Connect the 3.5mm jack plug at the SCART cable with the audio entrance of the WinTV-PVR-350 map (card)

Bad translation, but you get the picture...
In other words, it is for audio-in, not audio-out (of the PVR)

Thanks.

So it must be the audio coming from the TV through the SCART cable, then - not very useful :-(

My guess is that this connector is used to feed the audio from the sound card output to the TV via the Scart cable.
I will try that tonight mself.
If that works it is a good solution for those who use the TV speakers, not a separate sound system.

I was hoping it would be audio out from the pvr-350 since I want to use the TV speakers most of the time, but have an easy way to feed the audio to my surrround system for movies.

Do you have a sound card in your box? If so you can take the sound from there for the stereo.

I do that now, and it works very well for music and games, but the audio from playing mpeg2 streams on the pvr-350 decoder does not go through the sound card.

I guess what I need is some kind of a split cable feeding audio from the phono connectors on the other "video out" cable to the TV and the sound card line in. It would just be much easier to use the scart cable. I don't know about the audio quality and volume if I use a split cable either.

You need to feed the audio from the PVR350 to the sound card. Did you try to use both the Scart and the composite cable? Maybe they feed audio out at both connectors, then you can connect from the red+white cinch cables to the audio card.

Both cables connect to the same connector (A/V out) on the PVR, so they cannot be used at the same time :-)

For now I only have audio from the pvr-350 on the TV speakers...

This was my mistake, I was writing from memory...

I guess the only solution will be either a Scart breakout box or to modify the connector to feed the audio lines out.

This are the relevant pins in the Scart connector:
1 AOR Audio Out Right
2 AIR Audio In Right
3 AOL Audio Out Left + Mono
4 AGND Audio Ground
6 AIL Audio In Left + Mono
