Could I get MythTv to run extreemly well using the Celron 1.7 found here:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php? ... ture=Intel

I would put in a 120 gig drive a WinTv 350 and probably another 256 RAM.
(maybe a new sound card and Video card)

Could I expect a great performing box? Or should look elsewhere?

I assume you meant a PVR-350 when you said WinTv 350. This should run just fine, the great thing about the 350 is hardware encoding and decoding. I run a 1.3 Ghz Athlon with 512 MB of RAM and the machine doesn't even break a sweat when I am recording a program and watching a program at the same time. Plus the included remote is very handy. One thing to realize is that the 350 doesn't do well with playing videos, like Divx because it's not a real video card. I have heard there are some patches out there to help this but I haven't tried that yet because my machine is running very well at the moment and I don't want to mess with it. You might look to get a little bigger drive, I have a 200 Gig and I can fill it with mp3s and recordings but I tend to record a lot of programs and it takes me a while to watch them all.

about that DIvx not playing well issue... Does that mean a amd 3000+ with pvr350 wont be able to play xvid/divx well?? everyone who mentions this problems is really vague.. i am wondering if you can make up for this problem with a faster proc. (ie amd 3000+)???

You can have a terahertz processor with the 350 and it won't make a difference. The 350 isn't a regular video card and it won't play back Divx/xvid or DVDs are a "normal" rate. Perhaps in time as the drivers mature...

Actually im going to cancel my order for a 350 and get a 250 instead. Too bad the interlace problem still sucks (apartently) with nvidia.

well two things a 1.7 celery should be able to handle decode in software and you can use the deinterlace filters, secondly if you are in the US or anywhere NTSC is used you can set X to 640x480 and use one of the new HD480 modes in the new nvidia driver and it greatly reduces the interlace problem.
