Hi, I just purchased a HDTV. I was using SVideo to my old CRT Television with a definition of 800x600. With my new HDTV i'm using 1920x1024 with a DVI to HDMI cable on a Geforce 7600. My question, how to make the fonts of GUI and Fluxbox readable. They are really tiny at this moment (unreadable). I searched but i really need your help to complete this migration. Where to start. By the way Knoppmyth look terrific on a 52". Thanks Bob |

Unreadable, like they didn't scale properly, and all you're getting is blobs on the screen, or unreadable like, you have to get uncomfortably close to the screen to read it? I'm poking at do you have a rendering problem, or just a preferences problem? For the preferences I know the front-end has font-size buried in settings; it always takes some gui-spelunking to find it, but it is there. |

My preference are ok inside Knoppmyth. Fonts are readable. It's on the Linux Desktop or inside Applications with normal menu. The fonts are tiny. They were correct before i switched to the HDTV. Thanks for helping figuring this out. Bob |

Depending on the sytle you use, Fluxbox can display tiny fonts. Try a different style. |

Hi, On the net i found this solution that is working well. A poster called "rbochan" on forums.debian.net answered my question, and got it exactly right: ---- I'm guessing you use startx instead of a GUI login manager? Check the file /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc. You should see a line like this: exec /usr/bin/X11/X -dpi 100 -nolisten tcp However, yours is most likely missing the -dpi 100 part. If that's the case, add it, and restart X ---- Or for NVIDIA Card like me For nVidia drivers you may have to disable automatic detection of DPI to set it manually. There is also an easier way to set DPI on these cards. Either or both of the following lines can be set in the device section for your nVidia card. Option "UseEdidDpi" "false" Option "DPI" "96 x 96" Have a good day Bob |
