Hi,

I have read in these forums that it takes alot of cpu processing to decode, encode hdtv.

My question is does it take much cpu or gpu to just play high definition files.

Would a 1.6gig laptop with 1gig ram play them without stuttering?

"It depends."

I would suggest booting it up and trying a HD video file played from the local hard drive for
a test.

I have a friend that could not play some really high end (H264? at 1600?) HD video files under Windows on a 2.2Ghz dual core desktop.

On the other hand, I have a 1.6 Ghz laptop that I play lower res HD files on with no problem.

My experience with laptops is that the Wifi connection (802.11g) is ok for SD but not for HD.
A clean 802.11n may handle low end HD ok as a guess though.

Cliff
