Most of these recommendations are old - anyone done one recently? My Dragon 1.1 has developed some sort of terrible hardware problem and I need to replace it quickly/cheaply. I need VGA out to HDTV, and S/PDIF digital audio. I prefer to use onboard nVidia 6000/7000 series, onboard audio that works painlessly with optical output, and has two cores and can handle HD decoding, smooth as butter. Then I'll use my old tuners, drives, case from my existing system. I'd install fresh. So, if you were doing this today, or if you did it recently, what would you get? I'm hoping to spend under $250 for a CPU/MoBo combo and new RAM. Peace, and Merry Christmas! |

Turns out, I may be able to fix the old one... Bulged capacitor problem. |
