I hope no one proves me wrong, but this is system is a steal for $199. Just thought I'd mention it to others looking to upgrade for hdtv. Thanks.

That is quite a deal. Although it is missing some parts (CPU fan, Optical Drive, ..., possibly a sound card) it's probably not a bad starting point. You'd probably also want to add a bigger hard drive if you were using it as a standalone FE/BE machine versus a FE only client.

I see some problems here....
There are only two PCI slots. So that means two tuners max, unless you use the HD HomeRun (external tuners).
However, I it doesn't look like there's 5.1 audio on the board. So you need a sound add-on card. Now you're down to one PCI card.
I could be wrong about the audio - they don't show a picture of the back panel, so it's hard to really know.
It's a pretty sweet deal though. I just paid $119 retail for that same AMD 6000 last night... Trying to get my boxen patched up before 24 tonight....

You could always go USB external for optical audio, that's what I do.

Guys, thanks for the input.

Sound >> I don't have surround sound. I'm really a low end user of Myth. We use it as a high tech vcr!
UPDATE >> turns out the board comes with 7.1 sound!!

pci >> There are four slots. I'll put one pcHDTV card in this box and one in my other box. That gives me two tuners. That also leaves me with one pci, one pci 16, and one pci express if memory serves me well.

hd >> hd's are cheap. The 250 is nice but my friend just bought a 1.5TB SATA for $129, gogole it it's not hard to find.

Thanks.
