Let me preface by saying I've gone through all the suggested fixes for the black/white OSD problems that I could find through searching and the docs (turn off XvMC, VidFormat = "COMPOSITE", etc...). I think the problem I'm having is a little different.

When I plug directly from the S-Video out to my TV everything is in color and works fast. When I plug my DVD Recorder (Philips) in line and reboot MythTV, it comes up in Black and White. Also, there is a noticable delay when moving through the menus (hitting the right arrow will take 1 second+ to move from one option to the next).

To add to the confusion, if I boot plugged into the TV (comes up color) and then move cables to the DVDR, it stays in color, but I suddenly get the slowness. This is not just in Myth as when I exit back to just X the mouse is a second or so behind and so is all keyboard activity as well.

Here is my config:

ECS K7S5APro board and Athlon XP 2400+ w/SIS735 Chipset (latest bios)
512 2100 DDR
ATI TV Wonder VE
NVidia 440MX video
Onboard AC97 Audio
Onboard LAN (RealTek RTL8201BL 10/100Mbps )
R4V4 KnoppMyth

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks,
Gonz

Let me get this straight...
Works fine plugged directly into the TV.
Add DVDR and it does not.
Works fine plugges into TV...add DVDR inline and it doesn't.

What is the common element when it doesn't work?

Heheh... sorta. If I wait to plug in the SVideo cable to the DVDR until after X is running then it works in color (and I can record to DVD+R shows with no commercials. Woohoo!). What just beats the heck out of me is why X is able to detect what's at the other end of the cable? Is S-Video a two way communication path?

You are correct though. For some reason when I plug into the DVDR (whether waiting or not) there is a slowdown in the inputs on the box from both keyboard and mouse. As soon as you unplug and go right to the TV, everything speeds up again.

Strange stuff....
