Please describe what you have done before anyone wastes time suggesting something you have already done.

Im having this same issue running a recently updated R6.
mythfrontend and mplayer both pause audio playback when the CD light comes on briefly.
xine plays the cd back fine.
This is really bad for the WAF and the FAF. If anyone has a solution, please do tell.
This is with a relatively new DVD burner drive.
looking at mythfrontend -v all I am gettting messages that say "audio waiting for buffer to fill" when it pauses.

This ticket discusses the problem and says that it has been improved in trunk (10th Jan 2010).

Greg, I am running trunk from the testing repo and while it may be improved I see the buffer underruns and get a pause in the audio output about every 20 secs or so.

FWIW, I'm still having this issue. Now I'm running the .22 version of MythTV out of the testing repo also.
Code:
>$mythfrontend --version
MythTV Version   : 23247M
MythTV Branch    : branches/release-0-22-fixes
Network Protocol : 50
Library API      : 0.22.20091023-1
QT Version       : 4.5.2

Greg...is the trunk version different from what I'm running?

To be perfectly honest, I've just gotten into the habit of ripping the disc to the hdd, but a fix would be nice.

Yes. The trunk version is the mythtv-svn packages in testing.

entourage: to clarify, trunk refers to 0.23 development and is packaged as mythtv-svn in the testing repos. If you are running the normal mythtv package from the testing repo, you will be running mythtv-0.22-fixes which is not trunk.

brfransen: could you report that the problem still exists in trunk in the ticket I linked above?

Greg, looks like they locked that ticket so a new one will have to be created.

Hi,

Really big WAF-kill for me (yes, I could rip it all to disk, but that's not the issue here).

Regression bugs are a pain, and definitely not a WAF compliant argument. My wife already suggested to buy and put a sofa in the cellar so I could bring the mythbox there. :? Well, wifes likely give to a few of us the very first motivation to re-open a ticket for that bug at mythtv.org.

Well, locked does not mean closed, does it ? There is a workaround proposed under ticket #8362, but that ticket was closed as a dupe of ticket #7784. As far as I understand, ticket #7784 is active still, there is just no way to add comments to it.

Does opening a new ticket will make the bug considered again, or will just make the ticket quickly closed as a dupe ? Does someone opened the new ticket already ?

EDIT: regarding ticket #7784, iamlindoro answered me on #mythtv-users:

Golffies, We don't need any further information on that ticket. In fact, it's *probably* already fixed in trunk. I appreciate your interest in getting it fixed, but if more information is required then the ticket status will be set to infoneeded and specific information would be requested

Well, the bug has chances to get fixed; we will have to check what's new, after upgrading to the next LinHES rolling release.

Post subject:  [Solved]

It worth to note that the bug got solved during the summer. Playing CD works now.
