Post subject:  SATA controller recommendation

I have a fairly old MSI motherboard that while it has SATA RAID, I have never been able to get it to recognize a single SATA drive. I would like to move from my 500GB IDE drive to a 1TB SATA drive.

What inexpensive, easy to setup with KnoppMyth SATA controller card should I get?

Thanks,
Jon
p.s. Running R5.5 now hoping to upgrade to R6 soon

$70 and PCI 2.2 (not PCI-X), NCQ, SATAII controller works well with Linux. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6816102065

That's nearly as much as a 1.0 gig drive! You might wanna focus on getting the onboard SATA to work... you running the latest BIOS? Do you have any SATA options in the BIOS that need to be enabled? I've never heard of your problem before.
