Post subject: | Ethernet woes... anyone have a suggestion for a new card? |
Hi, I've been trying to make mythtv work for some time now. I've gotten the auto-install to function properly, and mythtv comes up just fine. However, when I found out that my ehternet is not working when I realized I couldn't get the program guide from data direct. Right now I have a VT 6103 integrated ethernet chip. I haven't been able to find any drivers for it, although I did try one that i read should work with vt 6103 somewhere... but i'm very new to linux and i don't think i did it correctly anyway. What I'd like to do is drop a few bucks on a new pci ethernet card that would hopefully work without having to install any drivers. i don't even know if that's possible in linux or not, although it appears to be from some posts i've read... i have a network of (windows-based) computers set up behind a router, if that makes a difference. does anyone know of a specific card that would work without any installing with knoppmyth? please be specific about brand and model - thanks for looking at this post and thank you for your help. EDIT: By the way, the cheaper the better. I don't need much, just access to the internet |

Most "cheap" NICs use a Realtek based chipset and should wourk w/o isse. |

In my case a Realtek NIC causes frequent crashes with R4V4. I am still hoping for R5 to fix that. |
