Post subject:  PVR 250 Problem

Machine:
Chaintech 7NIF2
Athlon 2500+
512 mb Ram
PVR-250

I had Knoppmyth running for about a week, once I changed the tuner type to 39, I was able to view video. It crashed one day and upon reboot it said.
Code:
msp3410: daemon started

and it just sits there unresponsive.

I tried recompiling ivtv using the info in the wiki. (Thanks for that XSecrets)
I tried a new auto install of R4v4.1 and it keeps hanging in the same spot.

Removing the card allows knoppmyth to come up.

I am at a loss on what to do. Any ideas anyone? I dont work very far from Hauppague. Perhaps I can throw the card through there window? On a serious note, has anyone ever contacted them? Are they helpfull?

I'd suggest trying the IvyTV mailing list.

*UPDATE*
I popped the card into a win2k box and the OEM drivers would not load either. I called Hauppauge and spoke with them and explained the issues and he said it sounds like the card is bad. Since they are about 25 miles away, they said I can drive the card over this week for an immediate swap. :-)

Now I wish I didnt reinstall Knoppmyth from scratch..... as now I must start all over. :-(

Since I dont really know what I am doing in the Linux/Knoppmyth environment, when I could not find an answer to the problem I was having (indeed a google search of: msp3410 deamon started + hard lock returns almost nothing of value) I figured that an immediate solution would be to start a new install and try again. Unfortunatly for me, after going through the install it crashed at the same point on the first boot.

On the bright side, I have learned much from my repeated installations, and from my forced searches through the forums and for that I thank you all.

Here we go again.

BTW if I go ahead and reinstall sans pvr card, will it be detected and setup when I add it in, or will I have to give my keyboard an extra mashing to get it working?

If there is nothing wrong with the card and it is well seated in the PCI slot, then yes it should be detected.

OK I paid Hauppague a little visit yesterday in order to swap my card out. They seem like a bunch of cool cats and everyone was nice enough. They handed me a new card and I was off! This sure beats waiting and paying for shipping! If you live on Long Island and have trouble with a Hauppague product, its faster to just go there.....

I have the exact same problem with it locking up after msp3410: daemon started. It is a fresh install of R4V4 because my 250 was supposed to not work (and didnt) with R4.1. Now it just sits there, but it was working fine with sagetv/WinXP Pro. Anyone have any ideas on what to try?

Why is that? After replacing the card my PVR-250 works great out of the box with R4V4.1.
