Which I am very pleased with (in fact with R4V5 it works without any configuration, . . . with the exception of surround sound, easy fix). I recently aquired an old Zoltrix (VP-8482 rev 1.1) Bt848KPF. It hurts to look at this thing. I tried it and it either makes the system lock up or give me a blank screen. I tried moving it and the PVR-250 in different PCI slots and different orders on the board (one post suggested that). When the PVR-250 is in slot 1 (closest to AGP slot) and the bt848 is next to it in slot 2, niether devices are recognized.

The thing is, . . . I am not even sure this thing works.

My question is; is this worth the effort? Or should I just buy a fairly inexpensive tuner (or for that matter another pvr-250)?

Perhaps you need to specify the card and tuner type for the Zoltrix (assuming it is fully supported by bttv).

Do I need something other than the Bt848KPF mentioned earlier? (which was on what appeared to be the main chip on the card)

I was assuming that it was a bt848 considering that was what the autoconfig found durring the boot process.

Sorry, if I wasn't very clear.

the bt848 driver has probably 100 different card settings, for example the leadtek I am using as my second card requires card=34. Some are autodetected, but some like mine are not and you have to specify them. you can look in the CARDLIST file to see if your card is named, or search google.
