I have a Hauppage 250, 512 of RAM, Abit VA-10 motherboard, and Albatron GeForce4 4200. I have 1% experiance with linux, that 1% combining a short bout with knoppix and only a working knowledge of Unix. I got Knoppmyth installed fine, per the instructions on the site. I had TV VIDEO working fine, but not sound. Now, I dont even get video (from coax, i can see the menu fine on my TV). It goes black for ~20 seconds, then kicks me back to the menu. How can I fix this, how can I run that config app again (already tried the one accessable by the menu), and any clue about my sound (could it be I'm using the optical out?).

/edit: an unrelated concern; when I try to exit knoppmyth, i'm dropped to the wallpaper, the X11 window dissappears, and I cant ctrl-alt-F1 to a command prompt (screen turns GRAY). argh!

well not sure about the video search the forums there are numerous causes for this, all have been discussed in the forums here.

The sound is definitely because you are using optical out. To get that to work takes some doing. There is a whole page dedicated to it over on the wiki.
