I'm currently building a computer system for running MythTV, but need some tuner card advice. I'm interested in the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150MCE because it has a hardware MPEG encoder and it is cheap (I want to get two tuner cards). However, I have a couple of questions about this card that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on: 1) Is the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150MCE supported by KnoppMyth (I can recompile IVTV drivers if necessary)? 2) What is the difference between the PVR-150MCE and PVR-250MCE? From looking at the Hauppauge web site, I can't really tell, unless it is just that the 250MCE comes with some extra software for utilizing the card with Windows XP: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products ... 50mce.html http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products ... 50mce.html |

I searched for PVR-150 at the mythtv-users mailing list archive and the story doesn't sound good for an easy install: Quote: Short version: It seems that both cards are using the Blackbird design (Conexant CX2388x), so they will not work with IvyTV. You will need to get, test, and possibly continue hacking the Linux cx88 driver patched for blackbird ( http://www.foks.8m.com/cx88-blackbird.html ) to get support for the cards. Jelle Foks has been working to get initial blackbird support into the cx88 driver and has made great progress, but it is still less mature than the ivtv driver, and probably needs modifications to work with these cards.

Its a shame that it is not supported because check out this new deal! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... 39-1222450 Still, if it don't work, its not a good deal. Bummer! I would NOT get any tuner unless KnoppMyth explicitly says they support it. That is probably a good idea for any hardware purchase. You'll be glad to spend the extra $40 to get a PVR-250. Thanks!
