I already own a RadioShack 15-2133 remote (which is great!), and I'm trying to get it to take on the duties currently handled by the Hauppauge grey remote that came with my PVR-250. I've seen a variety of posts here and there about very similar models, but nothing about this exact one. Jarod's guide (http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/remotes.php) has got me so far, but many of my remote's buttons don't work at all with his setup -- I imagine that's because he's using a 15-2116 (discussed extensively elsewhere in this forum), and I have the 15-2133. Interestingly, when I run `irw` I can watch the remote codes on the console when I hit a button on the remote, but some don't work (SELECT shows up in irw's output, but nothing happens when I hit that button in mythtv), and LEFT and RIGHT, although listed in lircd.conf and .lircrc, do not show any codes in irw, and (of course) also do nothing in mythtv. Also, the mapping does not appear to correspond to what the files say in some cases: for example, my VOL+ and VOL- buttons show up correctly in the lirc config files (and in irw's output), but they do 'skip fw' and 'skip back' in mythtv.... I'm very new to lirc (never had to even know of its existence till now, thanks to KnoppMyth's idiot-proof install with my original hardware), so any help or hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanx. |

I'm not familiar with the 15-2133, but if it's like the 15-2116 and has the JP1 interface, do yourself a favor and buy the cable to program it with your PC. http://www.hovisdirect.com/ You can then download mapping files that other people have created to work with just about any IR device that exists. My 15-2116 is setup to run my xbox frontend, my obscure DVD recorder, and even more obscure receiver. I also have the files to make it run the pvr250s if I ever want to go that route. Gonz |

well some things are mapped oddly intentionally to make the hauppage remote work as you would expect. For instance the vol buttons you mentioned, If you look they are the right and left buttons around the center select button, and most people expect those buttons to move right and left through the menu's and forwards and backwards during playback, so that is the way it was mapped for knoppmyth. You can change those mappings anytime you like in the ~/.mythtv/lircrc file. or in mythweb you can change what the keys that are already mapped do. |
