I saw this and it got me thinking. http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2987 Dual tuner cards have two tuners but only one tv (coax) input. How would this work with digital cable / satellite? My tuner (pvr-250)is set to stay on channel 4 and I use a serial cable to change the box’s stations. It would be a shame not to get the 500 (once drivers are available) for only $50 more. But this got me thinking, During setup you can set up you assign the tuner a “location”, and you can assign multiple inputs (svideo, rca, tuner) to other locations. Right? With the PVR-250 can I set up the s-video to record the cable box and the tuner to record the analog cable (channels1-125)? I know there is only Mpeg chip and this could affect this. IF not possible on the 250 is this plausible on the 500 same type of setup to get around the single coax input? Just dreaming of my MythBox 2.0 so I can pass this one on to my folks. |

I seriously doubt that this will work, as the tuner only affects the coax connection. so this is only really good for people doing analog cable or OTA. At least as far as I can see. not to mention that from what I've heard drivers for this card are quite a ways out, possibly for this exact reason. I imagine they are having a problem trying to figure out how to record two streams from one dev simotaniously. my guess it that it will have to become two virtual devices, and then your svid and tuner at the same time might work, but we won't know till we see if and how the drivers develop. |
