Post subject: | nforce chipset not recognized: IDE - no sound |
Hi! my nvidia chipset as posted previously is not recognized http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3007 I wasn't really surprised that automatic sound configuration did not work. I read in the forums to avoid the nvidia nvsound driver and go for the snd-intel8x0 instead that is supposed to wirk out of the box. modprobe soundcore modprobe snd-intel8x0 gives me: ed Code: /lib/modules/2.4.25-chw/alsa/snd-intel8x0.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg /lib/modules/2.4.25-chw/alsa/snd-intel8x0.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.25-chw/alsa/snd-intel8x0.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.25-chw/alsa/snd-intel8x0.Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy Intel 810 + AC97 Audio, version 0.24, 16:08:11 Apr 10 2004 Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy o: insmod snd-intel8x0 fail $ dmesg Code: Intel ICH soundcard not found or device busy

Can anyone point me the way? Thanks! Thomas |
