I've been using my Visionplus DVB-T cards for a while under Windows, and a well known problem (in the Windows DTV world) was intermittent jerking of video and clicking/popping audio while accessing a SATA hdd on nforce2 mobos. The solution was to get an IDE HDD, so now my SATA is spare and I am having a go at mythtv.

Now, I've heard the problem doesn't happen under Linux, and there are no glitches caused by SATA. Has anybody had any experience with this?

I'm at the stage after installing Knoppmyth and tuning channels, and can watch TV. I'm getting lots of glitches, and not sure if it's the SATA problem or not. There are less glitches when I move my antenna cables around - but I don't think it's a reception issue because it is fine under Windows. Maybe it's the drivers or the mpeg decoder that doesn't handle errors as well as the Windows ones?

Please help!!

On the principle that it could be RF (EM) interference inside the box have you tried shifting cables and/or shielding them? I know that the EM noise at the back of my TV can play hob with the audio signal, and that having a VCR in the same circuit messed with my TV signal qualty. A little bit of shielding and grounding can make a huge difference...

Silly (or maybe scary) but true story... At my previous job one of the guys on my floor had a 3 foot square area of aluminum foil behind his monitor with a little wire attached and running down to a grounding point. When asked what it was for he'd unhook the wire and looking at his monitor could literally make you seasick and nauseous. Seems there was a piece of equipment on the other side of the wall that produced a signal at just the right low frequency to cause a very nasty slow flutter. Urp!

Thanks, it's probably crappy cabling or something, but it's not too important cos digital tv works fine under Windows as well as on set top boxes.

Okay, RF interference aside (it was not the intended topic), I'd really like to hear about others who are using SATA hdds on nforce2 motherboard.
