My Mythbox work very good, because i found this forum, thanks. Now i want to by a dvb-t card to watch tv but i don´t know wich card i should buy. Is there a card wich work without problems? I thought to buy a Haupauge nova-t but i think it will be a problem with linux!?? Please send me your experience and tips. |

I have two Avermedia DVB-T 771 cards. Good reception on the tuners, better than most set top boxes I've had experience with, and miles ahead of the previous Avermedia DVB-T card (761 I think) which was reported to be extremely poor. Also has Analogue composite input, but I don't know whether the drivers support the composite input. Also has a loopback antenna socket hidden behind the faceplate, which if you have two tuners and want to keep the clutter down, can be useful for looping from one tuner card to the next (though you have to either remove the faceplate or machine an appropriate sized hole in it.) G'day I am having no problems with the TwinHan DVB-T card, requires you to view Nogel Pearsons howto to get it working under KNoppmyth, but works well. 110 bucks Australian also pretty cheap. Matt |

I read that the Technisat AirStar 2 should work good with linux. Is it also no problem with the mythbox? I search for a card that makes no stress by instalation, i dont want to have the situation to configure the card with bad or incomplete howtos, because i´m not a specialist in linux and the most howtos tells me something with compiling the kernel etc, but i dont know how to do this and i dont want to spend a week to installing it. Thanks for your help. |

New cards work _much_ better than old ones with weak signals, but are much harder to get working, because current kernels do not support them. I use TwinHan VisionPlus and AverMedia 761 cards, but had to install a few RF amplifiers to get good results (and still get glitches when lights, fridges or microwaves switch on). At work, I cannot get any signal with either card. A 5 year old set top box sometimes gets a signal, but a 2 year old one works reliably. |
