Post subject: | How to setup a Harmony remote to work with MythTV? |
Hi, I have a working KnoppMyth box. It is all in one solution (front + back in one box). I have purchased a Harmony 659 remote and a home brew serial IR receiver. How do I setup this hardware to work with KnoppMyth? I have searched forum but no posts have any info on Harmony remotes. Logitech web site allows me to select MythTV as one of the devices that I can control but I think I have to setup the computer to understand the commands. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Drabina ___________________ biostar mobo amd XP 2100+ 256MB ram 80GB hdd geforce 440MX w/tv out bt8x8 tuner card netgear ma311 |

I guess the usual way to support a remote like this is to make it emulate something known, like the remote that comes with the Hauppage PVR-x50 card. Then treat it like the Hauppage remote from the MythTv perspective. |

Have you tried searching the web (google is your friend!) for "harmony remote lircrc" to see if you can find a config file for it? Maybe this one? http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/jbl/Harmony BTW - I found a review with tons of pictures, and it looks pretty cool if you can get it working: http://208.42.81.123/sst659/index.html |

tjc: JBL Harmony is a different thing. It is a JBL audio system. My remote is made by Logitech (they acquired Harmony). I will try to setup the remote as something that I have (Samsung TV) and then configure lirc with Samsung config file. Thanks, Drabina |

So did you look in the Logitech directory? http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/logitech/ |

You can also create a new generic task and manually set options and just 'program' the harmony using it's IR reader in the backend... I find it quite useful when I wanted a specific feature they didn't have for a sony vcr I had. |
