Post subject:  Low volume question

I am running R5A9 on a Abit NF7-S2G MB, using a GeForce MX4000 connected to my TV and the onboard sound connected to my TV's audio in and everything is working. However the sound is a bit low. I need to have MythTV sound level set at almost 100% and the TV volume set at almost 100% to get a decent sound level for a quiet room. Changing the volume on MythTV works, but as I am already at 100% I can't get it louder. Normally (if I was watching plain old TV) setting the TV sound level to 50% would be way too loud. Any ideas?

Try running alsamixer in a terminal and turning up the mixer levels.

The other thing is to go through all the config screens and bump the various volume settings up. There are at least 3-4 of them which have cummulative effect and .7 * .7 * .7 is down below 35% ...
